Is A Stay At Home Job Right For You?
Working at home can sound great to many people, especially to stay at home moms and dads, but there are drawbacks to consider before making such a decision.
It can be quite a challenge to be your own manager, but this is an absolute must if you work from home, start a home business, or choose other ways to make extra cash at home. You must be willing to commit to work and in some cases, create a set schedule, as you would with a regular job outside of the home. This can be difficult because at home, there may be kids, pets, doorbells, and other distractions which can get in the way of concentrating on work to get done. In addition, it takes a lot of self-discipline to stick to a strict schedule to ensure assignments get completed on time.
These are just a few things to consider. This is not a means to discourage you from working online. Having a career at home is definitely possible, but arrangements must be made in order to ensure you have a good home office or work space free from distraction, the time to devote strictly to work, and the ability to manage your time effectively.
Some questions to ask yourself :
- Do I have enough free time during the day to commit to working online?
- Is there a space in my home I can use for a work space or home office and is it free from noise and distraction?
- Do I have the self-discipline to commit to working the hours it will take for a stay at home job?
Now that you have taken the time to consider some of the disadvantages to working at home, maybe you need time to think or if none of these aspects present a problem, I will move on to the next topic. In the next section, I will discuss the different types of work at home positions and ways to make extra cash, skills required, and how to find what type of stay at home job would be right for you.
