AARP
Story idea letters for specific features and departments should be one page in length and accompanied by recent writing samples. The letter should explain the idea for the piece, tell how you would approach it as a writer, give some sense of your writing style, and mention the section of the magazine for which the piece is intended. Your samples should not include the actual story that you are proposing.

Americas
Américas is the official publication of the Organization of American States (OAS). Accepts News Briefs, Articles, and Features. Compensation for written contributions ranges from $75 to $300, depending on the length of the published text.

Analog
Accept Story Content and Factual Content. Pay is six to eight cents per word.

Back Home Magazine

Chain Books
We are in the process of enrolling people to join us as "Starter Chapter" authors. We have established a goal to have a minimum of 500 first chapters completed prior to our launch this September. We are looking for writers of all skill levels and interests in different storyline themes, and who would like to become a published author. The Starter Chapter writers will receive $25 for each approved chapter plus additional compensation on books that meet successful sales goals. Country Magazine
All freelance material is considered on a speculative basis unless a specific assignment is made. We pay, upon publication, $250 for any story that runs a full page or more. The only exceptions are “God’s Country,” an 8- to 10-page text-and-photo feature, for which we pay a flat rate of $2,000, and poetry, which appears only in Country EXTRA; we pay $50 for each published poem.
